The Women Development Centre (WDC), Guwahati, recently hosted a heartfelt felicitation ceremony to honor 127 students from tea garden communities who successfully completed their High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (HS) examinations. This event celebrated the academic achievements of these students, many of whom overcame significant socio-economic challenges to reach this milestone. The ceremony underscored WDC's commitment to empowering marginalized communities through education and support.

During the event, students were recognized not only for their academic success but also for their resilience and determination. Special awards were presented to those who achieved exceptional results, highlighting their dedication and hard work. The presence of community leaders and WDC supporters added to the significance of the occasion, serving as an inspiration for the students to continue striving for excellence.

This celebration aligns with broader efforts by the Assam government to enhance educational opportunities in tea garden areas. Recent initiatives include upgrading 25 tea garden model schools to higher secondary institutions, aiming to reduce dropout rates and promote educational continuity, especially among girls . WDC's recognition of these students' achievements reflects a collaborative effort to foster educational equity and empower the tea garden communities.
