Women Environment Day Celebration by Women Development Centre(WDC)

On June 5, 2024, the Women Development Centre (WDC), Guwahati, in collaboration with Kindermissionswerk, celebrated World Environment Day by organizing a community event aimed at promoting environmental awareness among slum residents. The program featured activities such as tree planting, clean-up drives, and educational sessions on sustainable practices. Participants were encouraged to engage in eco-friendly habits, highlighting the importance of individual contributions to environmental conservation.
The event also included interactive workshops where women and children learned about waste management, water conservation, and the benefits of green spaces. Local volunteers and WDC staff facilitated discussions on how environmental degradation directly affects marginalized communities, emphasizing the need for collective action. The initiative aimed to empower participants with knowledge and practical skills to improve their surroundings and health outcomes.

Women Development Centre (WDC) is a development centre for the people in North East India for many years. The sisters felt the need to bring structural change to the present way of living especially of the women and tribals.
