International Women's Day Celebration

International Women's Day was celebrated by Women Development Centre on 7th March 2026 with great enthusiasm and dignity. The program was graced by the Chief Guest, Smt. Monalisha Goswami, Former Commissioner of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. The event was further honoured by the presence of several distinguished Guests of Honour: Sr. Angela Narzary, Provincial of Guwahati Province, Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod; Smt. Archana Bhattacharjee, Mountaineer; Sr. Prema, Social Activist; Dr. Madhumita Priyadarshini Das, Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital; Smt. Arzoo Dutta, Former WHO Consultant; Smt. Nellie Ahmed, Principal of Maria’s Public School, Guwahati; Smt. Mexi Mary Barglary, Well-wisher; Smt. Jayanti Bharali Saikia, Social Worker; Smt. Purnima Das Kalita, Teacher of Silpukhuri High School; Mr. Pabitra Kalita, Advocate at the Gauhati High Court; and Smt. Sangeeta Agarwal. The theme for International Women’s Day 2026, #GiveToGain, emphasized the importance of empowerment, mutual support, and collective growth among women in society. The programme commenced with a short prayer, followed by the felicitation of the distinguished guests and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The celebration continued with a vibrant cultural programme presented by the women participants, which beautifully showcased their talents and creativity. The event was witnessed by 170 women participants from six informal settlement of Guwahati city.
