Village Level Health Awareness Programme

The Women Development Centre (WDC) successfully organized a Village Level Health Awareness Programme on 7th June 2026 at Salkathoni Tea Estate to promote health awareness and encourage healthy practices among community members, particularly women, children, and adolescents. The programme was attended by 250 community members from the locality.
The event brought together villagers, local leaders, healthcare professionals, self-help group members, and youth volunteers. Medical experts from Salkathoni Tea Estate Medical Hospital conducted awareness sessions on personal hygiene, nutrition, maternal and child health, immunization, tuberculosis, Japanese Encephalitis, menstrual hygiene, disease prevention, the proper use of medicines, and environmental sanitation.
Interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions enabled participants to gain valuable knowledge about preventive healthcare measures and various government health schemes. The programme significantly enhanced health awareness, encouraged positive health-seeking behaviour, and strengthened the community’s understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Women Development Centre (WDC) is a development centre for the people in North East India for many years. The sisters felt the need to bring structural change to the present way of living especially of the women and tribals.
