World Children’s Day

World Children’s Day was celebrated on 20th November 2025 with great enthusiasm based on the theme - “For Every Child, Every Rights, Every Day”. The event was organized by the Women Development Centre (WDC), supported by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kamrup (M). On the occasion the Chief Guest was Shri. Rishan Kumar Das, Labour Inspector from the Office of the Labour Commission Kamrup (Metro), and amongst the guests of honour were Shri. Tarun Chutia, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Shri. Siddharath Sharma, Childline Coordinator Kamrup Metro, Shri. Dhurbajyoti Das, Chief Aid Counsel, (DLSA), Smt. Junumoni Deka, Ward Councillor (Kharghuli), Smt. Meghna Hazarika, Ward Councillor (Ulubari) and Sr. Lisa Elvavunkal, Director CDI, who graced the occasion making the program meaningful and impactful. The program aimed to create awareness on child rights, child protection, health, and wellbeing, while providing a joyful and inclusive platform for children to for their all-round development. There were 180 children participants from the 6 informal settlements of the city and they were joined by women and stakeholders among the 34 participants from these communities.
Women Development Centre (WDC) is a development centre for the people in North East India for many years. The sisters felt the need to bring structural change to the present way of living especially of the women and tribals.
